When business gets in the way...

I saw this open letter on my FB wall and felt the need to share it.

When business gets in the way...
I remember, when I started, most races only costs PHp150-300, and that was only 2 years ago.
I did not join this race though but I feel there is a need for me to post this letter, since I joined St. Peter's run that same day, and man it was well organized. Cold water and race marshals were everywhere. They had just the right number of participants (I was told around 2,500), not to mention a decent singlet, photobooths, etc. all for only Php 50.00.
Gone are the days (almost) when an organized race is about only two things, fun and charity.

Did they or did they not? - a question not meant to be answered.

Although I have not been able to join an organized race since June (have been merely confined to running indoors), I am deeply saddened by news of alleged "cheating" that happened in a recent race involving a good friend and some others.
I may not have any right to comment on this, it's just that Running is such a beautiful activity supposed to promote camaraderie and sportsmanship, unfortunately something like this happened.
I just wish for this to serve as a lesson to everyone, guilty or not. Most of all, I hope that those who were wrongly accused will be given a chance to be heard for the sake of fair-play.
Another thing, I've been hearing the term "elite" several times already and it's beginning to sound annoying. When someone's elite, it doesn't necessarily mean they don't lie (intentionally or not) or they know everything. Besides, in high society, if I'm not mistaken, most of the elites lie about their taxes. :D kidding :D

I never stopped running!!!

Finally, an update... :D
It's been quite a while since I joined a race. My last two races were Globe Run For Home 2 and my 2nd full-mary, Condura's Run for the Dolphins.
I admit, I miss joining races. I miss seeing thousands of people eager to hit the road as we all await the gunshot, my Takbo.ph family, who have grown so big I can only seem to name a few, and most of all, the idea of being in a friendly battlefield, sharing the road with thousands of people who share the same passion---Running.
But I NEVER STOPPED RUNNING, and will never do.
It has been a part of my weekly routine. I do run 3 to 4 times a week (although mostly indoors lately) and I must say that I feel bad when I do less than that. It has been an integral part of my workout routine, aside from the fact that doing so allows me to eat real food once in a while :D.
On July 25, I shall be back. I will not miss this event for the world. It's the Takbo.ph anniversary fun run. It's where it all began.
I hope to join more races after that. If only I have not been quite busy, I would love to join at least once a month. :(
But one thing's for sure.
I'll never stop running.
